“We Got Married” Cafe in Seoul

Miss Lee cafe is a must if you are a Korean TV drama fan. The second season of the Korean reality show “We Got Married” was filmed in the Insadong branch, one of the three Miss Lee Cafes in Seoul. As you can tell just from the name of the show, this coffee shop was where the actor and actress dated. Like many other film locations, this coffee shop has become famous after the show was broadcasted.

Well, there is always a reason why it was chosen as a film location to begin with. The interior decoration and the atmosphere of Miss Lee cafe is indeed nice and sweet. Before I stopped by, I have not seen any of the TV show nor done much research about the coffee shop. I only remember seeing the logo somewhere in a guide book. It was time to have lunch. So I looked at the menu and decided to give it a try.

The restaurant is not that small. There is an outdoor sitting area and there are quite a few tables inside. The main feature is the “wishing tree” in the middle of the cafe which has been growing “organically” by the customers who post their wishes. The abundant cards with wishes and the warm lighting has created a cosy atmosphere. The rest of the decoration is young, cute and colorful. Although not that big a menu. However, if you fancy some nice desserts or want to have a coffee, it is a good choice.

I walked pass this and thought it was a florist or a boutique shop selling dried flowers.

Then I saw some hand-made fruit tea leaves for sale.

It was this big doll sitting next to a red post box caught my eyes.

After looking at the menu, I decided to give it a try. Hungry.

The counter and kitchen are right by the entrance. There are only two to three staff in the cafe.

The big paper tree filled with wishes is the main decoration of the shop. It looks sweet and cosy.

There are small photo frames, dolls, and hand writings on the walls, creating a homey atmosphere.

The tables are chairs look more look a classroom. No wonder there are many young customers.

The logo is everywhere: it is hot stamped on table tops, silk screened on cushion covers, and printed on coffee mugs.

The logo is also on the floor of the entrance.

The choice of the menu is limited. I ordered this Byeldabang’s special: Hot Tteok-bokki stir-fried rice cake and a coffee. The sauce of the rice-cake is a gradma’s secret recipe. It tastes pretty good.

Dessert: Byeldabang’s ice flakes in a Korean pot. You can’t go wrong with fruit, ice-cream, nuts and and ice flakes! Obviously, this is something to share.
