Locating at 1,500 to 2,300 meters above sea level in the north eastern part of Nagano Prefecture, Shiga Kogen is the collective name of 21 ski and snowboard areas that are interconnected to form the largest ski area in Japan. It is where the Giant Slalom and Slalom races were held in the 1998 Nagano Olympics. There are 66 ski chairlifts and cable cars which you may travel on one ski pass. It takes many days to ski all the trails and certainly you may ski for hours without repeat in one day. The day pass for adult is ¥5,000. A half day pass is ¥4,000. There are also point pass and family pass to suit your needs.
Shiga Kogen is renowned for its excellent light powder snow, particularly in the area of Okushiga Kogen. That’s where I were!
