The First International Ski School in Shiga Kogen

Locating at the top of Okushiga Kogen, Shiga International Ski School is the first one in the area that have all English speaking ski instructors to cater for the needs of travellers from overseas. This is their first year starting end of 2015 and there are 10 instructors from all over the world. English is the primary language but there are instructors who also speak French, German, Spanish, Russian, Slovak, Polish, Welsh, Portguese and Amharic.

Half day (2 hours) and full day (4 hours) lessons are available for small group of up to 6 people. Private one-on-one lessons are available upon request. The instructors can meet you in your hotel or you may take a shuttle bus and get off at Okushiga Kogen Hotel. If you stay in the Okushiga Kogen Hotel (that’s where I stayed), the ski school is next door. It was very convenient for me. The instructors just walked over to meet me at the rental room in the hotel lounge or we just met at the ski lift.
