If you come to Asahimachi for the “Spring Quartet on train then switch the shuttle bus that runs between Tomari JR station and Asahimachi, the bus will drop you off a club house where there are restaurants, a gym and a hot spring. I think it is for the locals but they let me have lunch there. I think it’s possible to use other facilities as well. There is a beautiful yard where many cherry trees are planted. Then you walk along the cherry tree road next to the club house to get to the “Spring Quartet”. Easy.

Only in spring and in Asahimachi, Toyama Prefecture of Japan where you can see these four layers of color: yellow, orange and red tulips, canola flowers, pink cherry trees and a backdrop of the Mount Asahi with snow. It is a new destination with a absolutely stunning view.

Of about 800 species of fish in the Sea of Japan, 500 species are caught in Toyama Bay, in addition to about 50 species of crabs and 600 species of shell fish, making it one of the leading inshore fishing area in Japan. So if you come to Toyama, don’t miss the Shinminato Kittokito Market at the Shinminato fishing harbor. It is not as easily accessible as other fresh seafood markets in Tokyo, Hokkaido and Kanazawa. But if you would like to have fresh seafood right by the fishing harbor and willing to make a trip, you won’t be disappointed.
