Star Festival: July 7

Tanabata (meaning “the evening of the seventh: July 7) also know as the Star Festival is a traditional festival originating from China.

The myth has it that two deity lovers were separated by the Milky Way and they could only see each other once a year, only on July 7. It was on Lunar Calendar in Chinese tradition but it has been transformed into international calendar in Japan.

Besides, July 7 festival is now extended to a “wish making” festival. Bamboo branches are set up on shopping malls and hotel lobbies to let people write their wishes on color papers and hang them up on the branches.
