Male Geisha in Gifu Japan

Male Geisha in Gifu Japan

While geisha (traditional artist) was originally male, the number of male geisha has been outnumbered by female geisha since the 17th century. Today, there are only 9 male geisha in Japan, continuing the Japanese traditional culture as entertainers to perform in tea houses and special events. Mr. Housen Tatsuji is a 23-year old young male geisha who is passionate about Japanese tradition, spending a few years learning to become a professional geisha.

This handsome young gentle is now based in Gifu city and works in a tea house if you would like to meet him in person. Below is a dance demonstration so please excuse the background and music.
