To some, ski holiday is just about skiing. The quality of snow, terrain, parking, may be ski school are the most important factors. To others, it’s a hobby that takes you to different parts of the world, exploring different cultures and tasting local gourmet food.
In Shiga Kogen of Nagano, Japan, you may take the first ski lift up to the mountain and ski in 21 ski resorts with a one-day pass. If you don’t have a car to drive around, you would need a good hotel base where you can have a nice breakfast before you go out, and a gastronomically outstanding dinner in a nice ambience. In Okushiga Kogen Hotel, there are three restaurants. The Japanese restaurant and French restaurant serve set dinner. If you want casual food like noodles, buns, and skewers, you may go to the sports bar. In addition, the bar in the lounge area offers a la carte lunch menu, coffee and drinks.
Breakfast is a buffet style with a mix of Japanese and western breakfast food such as cereal, salad, cold cuts, sausages, etc. 早餐是自助餐形式，有日式和西式早餐食物，包括蛋、沙律、煙肉、香腸等。This is my breakfast: a mix of Japanese and regular western breakfast. 我的早餐：日式和西式混合。The highlight of the breakfast is this fresh squeeze orange juice machine. Fresh orange juice is my favorite drink other than the Nespresso coffee here. 早餐最受歡迎的是這部鮮榨橙汁機，除了Nespresso 咖啡外，鮮榨橙汁是我早餐喜歡的飲料。Bar lounge is the best place to hang out for coffee and light meal for lunch. Bright, great view and comfortable. 一樓酒吧是吃簡單午餐的好地方，面對吧檯可以看到外面風景，環境舒適。The first floor with direct access to ski lift is a well designed lounge with high ceiling, fire place in the middle, bar and sofa seat by the window, offering comfortable seating area for the guests. The colorful tables and chairs are near the door, more for those ski-in ski-out guests to have a break and eat. 一樓的酒吧休息大堂很舒適，樓頂很高，中間是火爐，空間感很大。酒吧和沙發靠窗，顏色鮮豔的桌椅是靠近出入滑雪的門口，方便一些滑雪人士休息和飲食。There is a lunch menu at the bar. Other times, there are pastries, coffee and drinks. 酒吧有午餐供應，其他時間有小吃、咖啡和飲品。I had lunch here a few times. This were the rice balls I had, taste good! 我在這裏吃過幾次午餐，這是我點過的飯糰，好吃！The confit duck leg was delicious! French gourmet for lunch. Some times I feel like spoiling myself. 糖漬鴨腿十分好味道！午餐在酒吧也可以嚐到法國美食，有時候覺得要待自己好一點。The sports bar is in a separate building, offering casual dining during lunch and dinner. 此外，在奧志賀高原酒店斜對面有另一棟建築，有運動吧 (Sports bar)提供簡餐，晚上是居酒屋形式，有串燒。The setting in the sports bar is more casual. 運動吧的環境比較簡單輕鬆。If you want a ramen or udon, this is the place. 如果想吃烏冬或蕎麥麵，這裏就有。There was a time I came after lunch hour, all I could get were some buns. It’s good that I could have early dinner here. So this is okay. 有一次我錯過了午餐時間來到，只有一些包點。還好晚餐可以很早吃。When it comes to dinner, there are two choices: Japanese or French restaurants. They both serve set dinner. This is the French restaurant. Nice ambience. 晚餐在高志賀高原酒店內就有兩間餐廳：日本餐廳和法國餐廳。這間是法國餐廳，情調很好。The menu is different every day. Set menu includes appetizer, main course and dessert. This roast duck with red wine sauce was my main course. 法國餐廳每天的套餐選擇都不同，有前菜、主菜和甜品。這是我的主菜：紅酒烤鴨。味道當然十分好！The other night, I had grilled fish. The food here is pretty good. 另一晚的晚餐我選了烤魚為主菜。奧志賀高原酒店的法國菜很真不錯！The desserts are often the highlight of the set dinner. No wonder how full you are, there’s always another stomach for desserts. How can you possible skip this! 吃得很飽後再來一個甜品，基本上是吃不下，但看到時永遠都會忍不住要吃。你看！多麼精緻的甜品，怎會不心動？The Japanese restaurant in Okushiga Kogen Hotel. Reservation for dinner in the Japanese restaurant and French restaurant are required, especially at the weekends or busy days. I booked late one day, most people finished the first round. 奧志賀高原酒店的日本餐廳。週末或繁忙日子晚餐在日本餐廳和法國餐廳都要在酒店接待處預訂，因為座位有限。這天訂餐遲了，要等到第二輪，所以沒有看到很多人。I love Japanese food. Everything is so pretty, fresh and tasty. 我很喜歡日本料理，從造型到食物品質都是一絲不苟的。A set dinner comes with apetitizers, a main course and a desert. There are usually a few bite size appetitizers. These vegetables are one of the them. 晚餐有前菜、主菜和甜品。前菜通常有幾款，這是前菜之一。My favorite sashimi. 我最愛的刺身。The portion of the set menu is very big. The main course options are sabu sabu salmon/beef, grilled beef, or both. And it comes with udon or rice. 主菜的選擇有三文魚或牛肉涮涮鍋，烤牛肉、或魚跟牛肉，份量很大，吃完這一大盤菜和肉，再有烏冬或飯，份量對我來講太大！The irresistible dessert: a piece of apple, sesame pudding and some sweets. 又來不能抗拒的甜品，有一片蘋果、黑芝麻布甸和和菓子。
